Pics from a bizarrely sunny Sunday in February

Japanese fridge in a Vietnamese alley

Old lady and girl

Stawberries and bananas

Touris bus with sovenirs

Kumquat delivery at Tet

Kumquat trees and Uncle Ho

It’s freakishly and rather worryingly warm in Hanoi right now.

I should be wearing four or five layers and I’m sweating in one.

It’s disturbing but, then again, it’s beautiful out there.

The fridge in the first pic somehow looks like it’s saying “Go ahead punk, make my day”…

It does seem a particularly aggressive fridge

  3. Wow – those photos are incredible. I particularly love the red bus. You must have an incredible camera to capture the colour like that.

I am also exceptionally jealous and wishing I was in a sunny Hanoi rather than a rather grey Newcastle…

Kelly, Not such an incredible camera. It’s a G10 which is a glorified point and shoot with knobs on. I tend to fiddle with them using Picasa. It’s very low tech but I like the style of pics that it creates.

Glad you like the pics – I’ve just talked to my mum and dad back in Northumberland and they report that it’s pretty cold.

Love the Tet trees outside the mausoleum.. Standing on Xuan Dieu for 2 minutes this morning I saw about 15 tree carrying motorbikes pass by. Rumor has it it’ll only get crazier as next Sunday approaches!

  6. Ah well that serves to make that photo even more impressive. Skill not tools…

The cold I can live with; it’s the greyness that’s a bit of a drag. With that said, I do love Newcastle. I moved back here so I must! So I will not grumble about the grey any longer…

Wow – I love the colors in these photos.

Just curious – what’s the normal temperature for Hanoi this time of year? I would’ve expected sunny & warm.

  8. ourman says:

Danielle, there’s Tet madness in the air. It will get crazier and then, all of sudden, the place will be a ghost town.

Kelly, Newcastle is a great city.

Adam, the weather this week is forecast to be as high as 34 degrees centigrade. 10 degrees centigrade would be more normal. This is very odd indeed.

Beautiful! Where is the second one taken? Looks familiar and strangely, so does that woman standing on the chair..She looks familiar. Anyway, lovely pics!
