A return to Hanoi

  1. Hard to stay away from Vietnam, eh? You know when I leave the country, I feel this country pulling me back sometimes.

    Welcome back.

It is hard. Sometimes it feels like it was a mistake to ever leave it but I’m glad to be back and appreciating it even more.

Also, what I love about Hanoi in particular is that every time it changes I actually like it even more. The fast pace of change is actually what makes it as fascinating as it is.

In the end the thing that I realised made Vietnam the most appealing was its optimism – the fast moving nature of change is part of that.

And thanks for the welcome back.

  3. You will also get to experience the wonderful floods. Are you going back to NGO work there?

Really nice. If you’ve had a lot of hits from India they’re all me! I think this return to Hanoi must be right for you, Steve – it’s clear from each of the little vignettes that you’re attached to the place and people and way of life. It feels like “I once was lost, but now am found”, if that doesn’t sound too corny. I don’t know the music but if fits perfectly. Great stuff.
